When I sync music to my iPod, MGTEK dopisp unexpectedly converts my music |
MGTEK dopisp has a built-in audio converter, which converts songs to MP3 if the song is stored in a music format that cannot be played by an Apple iPod, for instance if the song is stored in the WMA file format. If the conversion occurs although you believe it should not, please try the suggestions below.
Turn off MP3 bitrate limitation
MGTEK dopisp has a feature (off by default) that allows you to convert MP3s to a specified bitrate if the song exceeds a maximum bitrate limit, in order to save disk space on your Apple iPod. Note that MGTEK dopisp can only detect the bit rate reliably if the song is encoded using a constant bitrate.
If you do not wish MP3s to be re-encoded, simply disable this feature.
You specified a music quality in Windows Media Player
If you specify a music quality setting in Windows Media Player, music conversion may occur even when you sync MP3 files. If a quality setting is specified, Windows Media Player attempts to convert the music file to the specified bit-rate. Unfortunately, Windows Media Player does not honor the devices capabilities, and always choose the WMA (Windows Media Audio) file format. Since a WMA music file cannot be played on an iPod, MGTEK dopisp will convert the WMA music file back to MP3.
To avoid this problem, do not select a music quality setting in Windows Media Player. Make sure that an automatic quality level is specified.
